About

Hi! My name is GCH Phantom's I Don't Wanna Miss A Thing CA CGC, but they call me Mia. I was told by my human mom that I was named after Steven Tyler's daughter. He's the singer from the best rock n' roll band ever, Aerosmith!!! That big long name is my registered name and all those funny things in front and behind my name are the titles that I have earned!! Like my mom Angel, I too am a Grand Champion!!! That is what the "GCH" in front of my name means! The "CA" behind my name is the title I received in what is called Lure Coursing, or C.A.T! I am the first pure bred Bichon Frise to receive a title in this event! I am pretty darn proud of this! The last letters in my name, "CGC", means I passed the Canine Good Citizen test. The easiest way to explain this is I had to pass certain test to make sure I have manners while in public! :-)

I can't wait to share my adventures with you!!!

Fun Facts

Are bichons hypoallergenic?

There is no such thing as a totally non-allergenic dog, but some breeds are hypoallergenic, and the bichon frise tops the list. For dog lovers with mild or moderate dog allergies, bichon frises make good companions because their thick double coats don't shed. All bichon frise owners must attend to their favorite breed's extensive grooming needs though.

Any fun bichon history?

Around the 14th century, Spanish sailors routinely brought along bichon frises as companions while they traveled between continents. Because the dogs were lively and personable, they helped ingratiate the sailors to strangers in foreign countries. The dogs were so popular that the sailors often used them for barter, which was critical in expanding the breed's presence around the world.

How did they get their name?

"Frise" is the French word for "curly," and a "bichon" is a type of lap dog. Similar breeds like Maltese and Havanese dogs are also bichons. "Bichon" is etymologically related to the English word "bitch," meaning a female dog.

Are bichons working dogs?

In the 19th century, bichon frises grew popular as entertainers. Audiences found them performing frequently in circuses and with street performers like organ grinders. The breed's clownish personality and friendliness made them well-suited for old-timey show business.
